(c) Dell 5100cn - The Office Work-Horse PrinterDell 5100cn color laser printer has Ethernet capability, two-sided printing, solid paper handling, and has speeds fast enough for small office use. The Dell 5100cn has several paper handling extras as well. Dell's print quality is excellent, which is something we have come to expect from Dell. The Dell 5100cn Color Laser will meet your black and white and color printing needs in a cost effective manner. The Dell has a front panel that when flipped open reveals a 150 sheet multipurpose tray with icons that guide you through inserting paper or envelopes. There is a 500 sheet paper drawer on the bottom of the printer. There is a 250 sheet output tray at the top of the printer, where you can also access the four Dell 1500cn toner cartridges (which have a 9,000 page print rate), or you can open the front to clear jams and change the printer drum. There is an LCD screen on the top panel which gives you information like toner levels per color C, M, Y, K, and also has the printer control menu for network settings, paper tray selection, and any maintenance needs. The back of the printer has USB, parallel, and Ethernet ports It is easy to install the Dell 5100cn printer through its Ethernet connection or through the USB. Right out of the box networking setup involves plugging in an Ethernet cable into the printer, print a test page, and install the CD software. When prompted, choose network installation and type in the IP address from the display on the LCD screen. That is it you are ready to go, and the whole office has access. The 5100cn has a standard 500 sheet paper cassette and a150 sheet multipurpose tray; there is also an option to add a 500 sheet input tray or a 1,000 sheet tray if needed. The Dell 5100cn printer also has a built in duplexer that allows you to print double sided pages quickly. The Dell 5100cn has plenty of speed and enough memory to sort out multiple print jobs as they arrive; this is an excellent feature for using with a network. Dell's Printer Web Tool, which is installed with the drivers, offers necessary tracking via a Web interface. With this tool, your network professional can check toner levels, request e-mail alerts when toner or paper are running low, and monitor usage patterns. Dell even gives you a "Color Track" driver so that you block users from color printing; this is done by making this feature password protected. The Dell Color Laser 5100cn's print driver is full featured and is easy to use. The organization is a series of tabs, which allows you to adjust basics, like paper type and size, or even add a watermark. There is also a handy graphic on the driver that shows any changes you make to the printer settings. The Dell Color Laser 5100cn comes standard with 128MB of RAM, which can be increased to 640MB, and an extra 256MB of DIMM. The 5100cn is compatible with Windows, Mac, UNIX, Linux, and Novell NetWare.499 operating systems If you need to print stacks of black and white laser pages quickly, or even with color, this printer is what you need. It has all of the options and features that you would expect from Dell and the print quality from the Dell 5100cn toner is excellent and cost effective.
